HONOR FLIGHTS AT BWI

The mission of Honor Flight is to celebrate America's veterans from WWII, the Korean War and Vietnam by inviting them to share in a day or two of honor at our nation's memorials.  To summarize:  citizens incuding Veterans, active duty military and other citizens meet pre-arranged flights at BWI holding sometimes over 100 veterans who are in town to travel to Washington, DC to visit the respective war memorials.  Part of the process is for those meeting the planes to obtain a gate pass (GAP) to go through security and gain access to the appropriate gate.

Current Season Schedule: Current Schedule and Information Courtesy of Ellicott City Post  Schedule changes frequently so please check here for latest information.

For additional information regarding the Honor Flight program go to:  https://www.honorflight.org/about-us.html

Masks are no longer required in the airport.

Parking Instructions

Please park in the hourly garage and bring in your parking ticket for validation along with a government issued picture ID.  The parking validation deadline is 45 minutes before the flight arrival time.  If you miss this deadline, it doesn't mean that we won't validate parking, but it will have to be done after all flights are in.  Appreciate volunteers arriving early as that gives us extra time to process the gap distribution and parking sign up.

Procedures for Obtaining Gate Badges

The email account to request gate access passes (GAPs) is bwigap20@gmail.com.  The deadline for requests is 36 hours prior to the first flight of the day.  Please enter the dates you are requesting GAPs on the subject line and in the body of the email.  Unless you are meeting the first flight of the day please let us know which flight you will be meeting. This helps us with volunteers being available for you to pick up your gate pass and dropping off your parking ticket for validation.

The requested format for submitting is:

first name, middle initial, last name, date of birth, (mm/dd/yy format) and gender.  Please submit in this format:

John D. Smith, 03/16/99, male

Requests with multiple names, should be sorted by last name.  When you are submitting a request where several people have the same last name, please also sort by first name.  For example:

Amy Smith

John Smith

Robert Smith

Please check that your information is correct before submitting as those requests received that are not in the requested format will be returned with a request to reformat.

If you are military, please note on your request, so we can assign you to the correct listing.

[THE FOLLOWING IS REVISED MARCH 2023] Pick up point for all GAPs and drop of parking passes will be between doors 10 and 11 on the upper level just past the Jet Blue check-in desks. This will enable us to get parking passes validated more quickly. Pick up point for validated parking passes will be at the same location. If you do not find a yellow shirt at the location, please check with the person at the D Information desk.

If you do not receive a response to your request within 48 hours please forward to jjabner@verizon.net so I can respond.
