We meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month (except July and August). The meeting begins in the Dewey Lowman Post 109 Hall at 7:30 p.m.
The Dewey Lowman Auxiliary Unit 109 is working to make the holidays brighter for veterans at Perry Point Hospital. Your help is needed to fill Christmas stockings with requested items. There is a big container sitting on the table top in the canteen.
If you wish to donate items and need them to be picked up, or if you have a question, please contact Darlene Cline, 410-455-0580 or email: email@example.com. Please make any donations by Saturday, December 29th so that we may have them ready for the Christmas Party at Perry Point on 1/12/2019. The members of Unit 109 thank you for your generosity, in advance.
The Auxiliary has conceived and implemented hundreds of programs for veterans, their families, young people and the community at large. Dewey Lowman Auxiliary Unit 109 is no exception. Currently, the Dewey Lowman Auxiliary sponsors these projects:
– Annually sponsors up to two young women to attend Girls State where she will learn about government and democracy
-Participates in the Americanism Essay Contest for 3rd – 8th-grade students.
-Gives one $1000 scholarships yearly for post-high school education
-We are an approved partner in the United State Vietnam War Commemoration Program. As a partner, we “welcome home” Vietnam Veterans, and thank them and their families for their service.
-Collects travel size toiletries for the use of returning service people at the BWI USO center
-Makes visits to the local veterans hospitals
-Assists the Post in fundraising events and ceremonies
-Shares committee chairmanships with Post members for the betterment of the Post
Through its nearly 12,000 Units located in every state and some foreign countries, the Auxiliary embodies the spirit of Americans that has prevailed through war and peace. Dewey Lowman Auxiliary Unit 109 is proud to be part of that organization. We have achieved our own unique identity while working side-by-side with the veterans who belong to the American Legion. It is as solidly behind America today as it was when it was founded almost a hundred years ago.
