The 2015 American Legion National Convention was held in Baltimore from August 28th to September 3rd at the Baltimore Convention Center.  See pictures of the parade in downtown Baltimore and the Incoming Commanders Banquet at our post.

Bill Ganz in 2015.  Bill is the service officer for Post 109.  Besides his work reaching out to and improving the lives of veterans he also attends many American Legion events both in Maryland and around the country.  Here are a few pictures of Bill’s Travels this year.

2015 MSP Polar Bear Plunge!

The 19th Annual Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge - January 24th at Sandy Point State Park.

An event that has been keeping Maryland COOL since 1997!  It's not just an event - it's an experience that has become a winter-time tradition for thousands of warm-hearted Plungers! And it all benefits Maryland's children and adults with intellectual disabilities, as they enjoy the life-changing benefits of participating with Special Olympics Maryland.

2015 Brunswick Parade with the 27 Flags, Young Marines and Boy Scouts all representing Post 109.  They won 2nd place in the parade winning $100.

Post 109, 81st Birthday and awards dinner

On March 7, 2015 Post 109 celebrated it's 81st birthday.

Spaghetti Dinner Volunteers

Every third Thursday of the month these hard working members of Post 109 volunteer their time and labor to  put on one of the best Spaghetti  Dinners around.  The dinner is open between 4 and 7 pm but many more hours are spent behind the scenes preparing both the food and hall and then cleaning up afterwards.

Post Everlasting Service, Memorial Day 2015

The Post Everlasting Service is an annual ceremony that is held on Memorial Day. It is conducted at the Post and a formal ceremony is conducted by the Officers of the post. The Commander calls the ceremony to order and the Chaplain offers prayer. The public and families of the deceased Legion members are invited to attend.

It is a solemn event and no pictures were taken during the service itself.

Halloween Party 2015

We want to give a shout out to everyone that came to our big Halloween Party and costume contest Saturday, Oct.31, 2015. It was a huge success with lots of great costumes.  The live band for the evening, Blue Line, did a superb job rocking Post 109.  Congrats to the costume contest winners Patty, Pat and Sharon.  If you missed it this year then be warned, you don't want to miss it next year.

2016 New Year's Party

Welcoming in 2016 at Dewey Lowman Post 109.  We had  a great turnout and just about everyone brought a dish for the pot luck dinner.  Good music by Switch & Frank from Blue Line made it a fun way to bring in the new year.
